“Never Without You” by Ringo Starr

“Never Without You” by Ringo StarrRingo Star

We were young, it was fun
And we couldn’t lose
Times were right, overnight
We were headline news

Crazy days and reckless nights
Limousines and bright spotlights
We were brothers through it all

And your song will play on without you
And this world won’t forget about you

Every part of you was in your song
Now we will carry on

Never without you
Within you, without you
Here comes the song, it’s about you

Here today, not alone
With my memories
Life is strange, how things change
It’s reality

You played a beautiful melody
That keeps on haunting me
I can always feel you by my side

And your song will play on without you
And this world won’t forget about you

Every part of you was in your song
Now we will carry on

Never without you
Within you, without you
Here comes the song, it’s about you

I know all things must pass
And only love will last
I’ll always love the memory of you and me
Take it away Eric

And your song will play on without you
And this world won’t forget about you

Every part of you was in your song
Now we will carry on

Never without you
Within you, without you
We’re never without you
Within you, without you

We’re never without you
We’re never without you
Within you, without you
I think love is about you

Way back in 2002, the famous Beatles Band member Ringo Starr created a tribute song for his late band mate George Harrison. George Harrison died on 2001, November 29th. It was a heartbreaking moment not only for the remaining Beatles band members but also to all the Beatles fans around the globe. That is why it felt necessary for Starr to write something for his late friend. To commemorate his presence, Ringo Starr, together with his friends Mark Hudson, Gary Nicholson and Eric Clapton created the song “Never Without You”.

The song “Never Without You” talks about the brotherhood of great friends that were bonded since their youth up until they grew old. The crazy antics and the problems and wonderful moments that they had once shared all the while created a great and everlasting friendship and ties. And even if one of these friends passed on through the next life, the camaraderie and union that was built by their strong friendship over those years remains strong. That loss is never a reason to forget someone but rather a greater more reason to remember and celebrate that person who just passed on thru life.

This strong bond of brotherhood and friendship could be the probable reason why Ringo Starr urgently decided to write this song to honor his friend George. With proof written on the lyrics, you would read lines like “Within you without you, here comes the song it’s about you” and “I know all things must pass…always love the memory of you and me.”

As of us, we can relate to this song. We inevitably have someone whom we have great ties with. Mostly in that in the moment of sudden loss, we fall into sadness and despair.  However, we should not distraught but rather we should celebrate the life that that person once had. The influence and happiness that he has given you by that person who just passed away is undeniably irreplaceable.

The song “Never Without You” is a great way to be played during funeral services. The melody and the essence of the song carries you and moves you. In case you run out of funeral quotes to say, then this may be the perfect time to have this song played.
